In the latest installment of our Meet the Team series, we sat down with Jane Appel, Office Manager and one of the first employees at myprosperity.

Tell us a bit about yourself.

Life is fun, busy and challenging when juggling work and family life. Outside of work I often feel like an Uber driver, dropping kids here, there and everywhere, but I also enjoy cooking for family and friends, playing tennis and planning holidays!

When did you join myprosperity? Where were you before?

I can proudly say I was one of myprosperity’s first employees back in November 2012! myprosperity was my first step out of the corporate world, having spent a number of years working in marketing in financial services at Vanguard, DKN and Norwich Union. A big change, but one I’m so glad I made.

What would you say is the top trend to watch out for in the accounting and financial planning industries?

A big trend we see a lot at myprosperity, and I suppose has been increasing over the last few years, is the number of accounting and financial planning firms that are broadening their service offering or partnering up to become a one-stop-shop for their clients.

What would you say is the most overrated trend?

While not exactly a trend, the white house recently abolishing their Y2K regulations 17 years after the event reminded me of the hype that surrounded Y2K, and the lengths businesses went to prepare for the date rollover bug. As with many overrated trends, it turned out to be a much (much) smaller deal than everyone thought…

What’s a little known fact about Jane?

Before the children, I lived in the UK in a small town called Hailey, in Hertfordshire.

Quick Round:

    • Biggest pet peeve? My Surface deciding to install updates for 20 minutes after starting it up first thing in the morning
    • Favourite spot? the laneways and food in Melbourne’s CBD
    • Favourite food? Banh Mi (Vietnamese Roll)

Can you give us a sneak peek of some of the exciting items on the myprosperity roadmap for the rest of the year?

myprosperity is at an exciting point in its journey and is growing quickly. This means we need to expand and are hiring new staff across all areas of the business. myprosperity is made up of diverse, interesting people and we look forward to adding to this team. Exciting times ahead!
