In the latest installment of our Meet the Team series, we sat down with Olive Ongoongo, Technical Support Specialist at myprosperity.
Tell us a bit about yourself.
I’m the office Kiwi from Auckland, New Zealand. I moved here as a Criminology hons. graduate to join the defence force and sure enough, my career path changed!
I’m an avid reader, a beach enthusiast and most importantly, a passionate advocate for SPA whom I fundraise and represent every October during the annual Melbourne Medibank Marathon. I come from a large family, the youngest of 10, so being in an environment where I can assist or bring resolution to complex issues isn’t new.
SPA – Suicide Prevention Australia is an organisation dedicated to bringing awareness and delivering meaningful reduction to suicide rates in Australia.

When did you join myprosperity? Where were you before?
Before myprosperity, I was working for the leading Australian LED Technology company, LEDified, as a Project Manager and Senior Customer Care Consultant for the warranty department. LEDified opened the door to the ever-changing and developing world of technology for me. I was there for 2 years. I owe LEDified so very much for the technological problem solving skills I acquired from working with them, which I’ve developed even further working with myprosperity.
I joined myprosperity in June 2017 and knew almost immediately that this company would test my ability to adapt and deliver. I now know the software back-to-front and can confidently say that it is most rewarding thing to be able to assist our partners to better meet the needs of their clients.
What would you say are some of the biggest technical challenges our Partners face today?
Understanding data feeds, definitely. The most frequently asked questions we get are “why isn’t my client’s bank feed loading?” and “is data aggregation safe?”
Our CEO wrote a blog post about this a while back but using third party data providers like Yodlee is widely accepted in the industry. In fact, many of the world’s leading financial institutions use data aggregating technologies to deliver their online services, not least because of these platforms’ exceptional focus on maintaining bank-level security.
There are over a thousand businesses that use Yodlee, covering millions of consumers around the world. I work very closely with them and there’s never any doubt in my mind as to how secure the platform is.
Any tips or advice you’d like to share?
Of course! Our support database is filled with frequently asked questions. It’s always handy to have it open or to share it with your clients: http://support.myprosperityuk.com/
With regards to the bank feeds, there are a variety of reasons as to why a client’s bank feed doesn’t work or load. Though there are instances where this is a technical problem we need to mediate with our data providers, there are a few standard checks worth doing first.
This support page covers the main culprits when it comes to feeds not working properly. If after checking for all of these you’re still having issues, contact myself and Sara so we can assist you! I love resolving questions or queries concerning feeds and helping our partners understand how this side of the application works.
Last bit of advice: never hesitate to ask questions around how a specific feature works and provide us with feedback on your experience. It’s how we improve the platform and ensure it meets your needs!
Quick Round:
- Biggest pet peeve? Messy desks. I have the uncontrollable urge to tidy the desk next to me if I feel as though it’s affecting my personal space.
- Favourite place? This is tough. It’ll have to be a beach. Any, I can’t choose!
What’s a little known fact about Liv?
I play gridiron (American Football) for the inaugural Western Crusaders alongside my identical twin sister. I have a profound love for fitness and sport, travelling between Australia and New Zealand with my sister to play. We are both heading into our second year of American Football here in Australia, and getting ready to make a huge transition to AFL. Later on in the year, hopefully, we’ll get to represent New Zealand in women’s gridiron.

What myprosperity developments are you most excited for in 2018?
The amazing Sarah Dore joined the Technical Support team mid-January! Having one more person on the team is extremely exciting and she’s got heaps of experience in the industry which is even better.
Also, we have new feeds going live such as Westpac Business and NGS Super. Now would be a good time for you to send through requests for other banks or institutions they would like to see added to our platform!
